Visionary

Blogger Ref  http://www.p2pfoundation.net/Multi-Dimensional_Science

Defined broadly, a visionary is one who can envision the future. For some groups this can involve the supernatural.
The visionary state is achieved via meditation, drugs, lucid dreams, daydreams, or art. One example is Hildegard of Bingen, a 12th-century artist and Catholic saint.[1] Other visionaries in religion are St Bernadette and Joseph Smith, said to have had visions of and communed with the Blessed Virgin and the Angel Moroni, respectively.

Extended meanings[edit]

A vision can be political, religious, environmental, social, or technological in nature. By extension, a visionary can also be a person with a clear, distinctive, and specific (in some details) vision of the future, usually connected with advances in technology or social/political arrangements. For example, Ted Nelson is referred to as a visionary in connection with the Internet.[2]
Other visionaries simply imagine what does not yet exist but might some day, as some forms of "visioning" (or gazing) provide a glimpse into the possible future. Therefore, visioning can mean seeing in a utopian way what does not yet exist on earth—but might exist in another realm—such as the ideal or perfect realm as imagined or thought. Examples are Buckminster Fuller in architecture and design, Malcolm Bricklin in the automobile industry and Ada Lovelace in computing. Some people use mathematics to make visionary discoveries in the nature of the universe. In that sense, a visionary may also function as a secular prophet. Some visionaries emphasize communication, and some assume a figurehead role in organizing a social group. In other words, a visionary means that a person can see what something could be long before it actually happens.

In art[edit]

Main article: visionary art
Artists may produce work loosely categorized as visionary art for its luminous content and/or for its use of artistic techniques that call for the use of extended powers of perception in the viewer: (e.g. Gustave Moreau, Samuel Palmer, Jean Delville, Ernst Fuchs, the French Symbolist Odilon Redon, Brion Gysin, Max Ernst, Stanley Spencer, Edward Burne-Jones, Adolf Wolfli, Fred Sandback, William Blake, Hieronymus Bosch, and Henry Darger).
Visionary art can be incorrectly defined as a category of primitive art (art of those not formally trained) rather than describing people who have used their visions (or dreams) to create their paintings. Salvador Dalí is one artist who would exemplify visionary art that is neither religious nor primitive.

Meditation is a contemplative practice in which one trains one's attention to focus on different aspects of one's experience.[1] This is done in various ways, often by sitting still in a quiet location, limiting external stimuli, and focusing on a single point of reference. The pure training of attention is known as mindfulness,[2] whereas there are also practices for training the brain to experience loving-kindness,[3] and practices for gaining insight into the nature of thought.[4]

[edit] Religions

Ummm...
It is a discipline within many religions, particularly Buddhism. For example Roman Catholics reciting the Rosary can be a form of meditation, Christians in general may meditate on a specific verse of scripture, and for Zen practitioners meditation is a central part of their religious practice. (Wim Hof attributes his endurance to Buddhist Tummo meditation.) Meditation is often a popular practice among New Age believers. New Agers will sometimes tie meditation in with parapsychology, ESP, and other related woo.
In Hindu beliefs, several different forms of Yoga meditation exist, of which the best known is Hatha Yoga, a series of body positions and exercises. Hatha Yoga is often what most people think of when they think of Yoga.

[edit] Cults

A number of alleged cults sell their own specific form of meditation as a path to "higher consciousness." These include Transcendental Meditation, and its practice of Yogic flying plus Shri Ravi Shankar's Art of Living movement, Vipassana meditation and the Orgasmic Meditation cult of San Franscisco.

[edit] The straight dope

From a rationalist and secularist standpoint, meditation is a valid practice that does not have to be linked to any religious belief. The psychology community may promote meditation as a general stress-relieving technique. It can also be done with the intent of bringing about an altered state of consciousness without any drugs. There is also however a lot of woo surrounding the practice, and not all the claims made by its advocates may be valid; many of its perceived benefits may be merely psychosomatic. A relaxed state in general may bring about temporary biochemical changes which affect (and reduce) blood pressure, stress, heart rate, and respiration rate. It may also have effects such as reducing pain by removing one's mental focus from it and as a sleep aid, but this does not necessarily translate into permanent health benefits. One should be wary of specific claims, however (especially health-related claims) for pseudoscience.
On the other hand, some would say that the whole point of meditation is to intentionally produce psychosomatic effects, so this means it's working just fine:
The second criticism, that any change is a result of placebo, does not seem to make sense in this context. There doesn’t seem to be a way to define a placebo as separate from a “real” treatment. In drug testing, a patient is given a fake drug (a placebo) which they believe is real, and they experience some tangible health change because they are convinced the drug they are taking is beneficial. They actually create this change for themselves – it’s an internal mental thing rather than a result of the material pill. This parallel doesn’t work for meditation, because meditation *is* an internal mental thing – that is the whole point. If practicing shooting a basketball gives one the confidence to sink more baskets, the practice is not referred to as a placebo – rather, the practice is serving an important function, building confidence. If practicing focusing my attention improves my ability to focus my attention in my day-to-day life by improving my confidence, then it is doing exactly what it’s supposed to do, and it’s a worthwile practice.[5]
Sorting out the science of meditation and its observable effects from many of the practices and alleged benefits can be tricky, because many of the explanations traditionally given for meditation's effects are of a pre-scientific or religious nature.
In 2007, the largest peer reviewed independent meta-analysis of meditation techniques was published by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM). It found that some studies have reported positive effects for meditation in regard to conditions such as stress and hypertension. However, it ruled that most of the studies were too poorly designed to say anything definitive on the medical use of meditation. It concluded:
Many uncertainties surround the practice of meditation. Scientific research on meditation practices does not appear to have a common theoretical perspective and is characterized by poor methodological quality. Firm conclusions on the effects of meditation practices in healthcare cannot be drawn based on the available evidence. Future research on meditation practices must be more rigorous in the design and execution of studies and in the analysis and reporting of results.[6]
Some neuroscientific research has found expertise in meditation to be correlated with increased concentration and less mind-wandering.[7] Some studies have detected differences in gray matter in the brain for those who meditated.[8]
The research showing benefits of meditation is unimpressive, to say the least, and is corrupted by the “allegiance effect,” the tendency of proponents of a treatment to find evidence that it works.[9]

Edgar Cayce on Meditation

The following is an excerpt from the late great Cayce scholar Elsie Sechrist's book Meditation: Gateway to Light. More information concerning Cayce's insights into meditation can be found at the Cayce research foundation (A.R.E.).
Prayer is speaking to God and mediation is listening to God. Mastering the technique of meditation is not easy. There are three keys necessary to succeed in meditation. The three keys to this door of communication with God are sincerity, enthusiasm and perseverance.

As for sincerity, ask yourself these questions: Do I really know who and what God is? Do I know him personally as a loving Father, or do I just know about him? More important, does he know me? Are we on speaking terms, or do we just nod occasionally? If we find ourselves answering in the negative to these questions, we may begin to realize how greatly we need him. His promise has ever been that if we believe, live by his laws, he will aid us swiftly when we call, no matter where we happen to be.

Enthusiasm is important because it is an inner fire, an inner light seeking its own source. In Webster's dictionary, the origins of the Greek word "enthusiasm" meant to be "inspired, or possessed by a god." In meditation, this inner fire stimulates every cell of the body and every reflex of the brain to listen. How do we evoke enthusiasm for our search for God? By first examining those people who, from the beginning of time, have found him. The Bible tells of man's experiences with God. Studying it in conjunction with efforts at meditation and prayer awakens the necessary enthusiasm to begin.

Perseverance is perhaps the most difficult key. We need to keep on, day after day, in the effort to re-establish our communion. When we first attempt to harness the thoughts, to control the body, to sit still, we realize just how much the body controls us, mind and spirit.

The purification and control of the spiritual body takes place within the endocrine glands, under the direction of the mind. The Cayce readings and modern science concur that constructive thoughts and emotions release healing hormones into the body and mind. But the Cayce readings go further. They suggest that the endocrine glands are the spiritual centers of the body and that through them our spiritual forces find means of expression. Meditation is a key to opening these spiritual centers.
These spiritual centers are: the sex glands, the Lyden gland, the Adrenal glands, the Thymus, the Thyroid, the Pineal and the Pituitary glands. The proper application of the energies illuminates them, transforming the individual into a light in the world.

Ideals enter the mind when led by the spirit. The Cayce readings remind us over and over again that mind is the builder, led by the spirit we are entertaining, the spirit of God or the spirit of the devil - self. What one thinks and eats, one becomes.

Spiritual cleansing begins when the mind is in accord with his spirit. It is across the bridge of the mind that we pass, as we come to know God. Once a soul sets for itself an ideal which is spiritual in essence, every cell in the body is made aware of this and changes begin to take place. Our seven spiritual centers become the points of contact with the divine within; thus we experience a stepping-up of activity in all these centers. We have redirected the use of this energy to its highest function. A refining process has taken place in the body, a lifting of the rate of vibration; these centers now disseminate their energies and hormones to the entire body.

As the individual sits in meditation, his mind focused on an affirmation (an ideal), spiritual energy begins to move upward from the sexual glands. Usually, at this point, a pulsation may be felt at the end of the spine. If the spiritual force has been able to rise unhindered and undefiled to the pineal and pituitary, one may experience an incandescence as if the whole body had been filled with light and become transparent.

It is at the pineal center that we gradually become oriented to the Christ-presence, where we may even receive the Mind of Christ, depending on the degree of the attunement.

This force then flows into the pituitary, from whence, being now in purified form, it flows downward, cleansing and strengthening body and mind.

And Jesus also said, "He that believes on me, as the Scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water." (John 7:38) The movement of these spiritual forces in meditation are the rivers of living water.

The more we become able to still the conscious mind, the more trouble we can expect from the subconscious mind, for it is the conscious mind of the soul. It, too, must be purified. We have stimulated this area of the mind as a result of the ideal we have upheld; attitudes and thoughts previously concealed in the subconscious rise to the surface for examination. Symbols and old familiar scenes begin to flash before us like pictures on a screen. However, this is still only the beginning of meditation. We should not dwell too long on these pictures but press on to the silence. In other words, we must return attention to the affirmation.

We may at this point be fascinated by the many faces appearing, or numerous pairs of eyes staring. We may even hear our names called; we may feel as if we were in the midst of a crowd, listening to chatter and laughter. We must not stop there, for we are not yet in real meditation. Of course, it is fascinating at first, for it is an entirely new experience. The sounds, the voices, the pictures, the eyes and faces may all belong to souls already in the beyond who, having seen the light pouring through the open door (the spiritual center), have been attracted. It is much akin to the sensation of looking through a strange keyhole, only to see another eye looking back. Intriguing, perhaps, but neither stands to gain much from such a restricted encounter.

We must leave this entertainment behind and "press on to the mark of the high calling," his mark, the superconscious mind, the Christ Consciousness, the Holy Spirit, the "hill of the Lord."

Spiritual height is reached by attunement to the Creative Forces in meditation. The release of energy should never be forced by such methods as exercise, or holding the breath, or by focusing one's mind on a special center, or by willing the center to open. When meditation is properly approached, these centers will open voluntarily. The knowledge, power and illumination of the soul which accompany this opening will then be concentrated on the good of others and not to one's own misdoing.

The opening of the centers should come only as a result of spiritual growth, not through any abnormal means. Unless the power released is used to express his spirit with and for others, it will but inflame our lower natures.

The glands of reproduction are the reservoirs of the life force. They house the creative energy of the body. As the individual sits in silence, having lifted his mind by use of the Lord's Prayer (an excellent affirmation), creative energy is released at this level. This energy now carries the stamp of the divine, because both the purpose and the thought which released it were holy.

The Lyden gland, control-center of the soul's activity, opens its doors to this energy, enabling the mind of the soul - the subconscious mind - to rise to the level of the pineal, seat of the Christ consciousness. This energy is then transmitted to the other centers of the body by means of the pituitary. As it passes through the centers, it illuminates them.
Meditation brings an increase in vigor and improved health. An expansion of consciousness is achieved, and with this expansion comes the realization that we are in eternity now. The realization dawns that indeed there is no death. The only real death is the separation in consciousness of the soul from God. When this has been overcome there is no death, for consciousness is continuous in whatever realm one manifests.

Jesus said, "In my Father's house are many mansions." (John 14:2) These mansions of God are afterlife levels of consciousness. Where is consciousness? Within the bodies we now occupy, wherever we are. "For you are the temple of the living God; as God has said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people."  (2 Corinthians 6:16)

Through meditation, we may become aware of these afterlife realms of consciousness as in dreams. Therefore, whether we are on this Earth, or in another afterlife realm, the "house of the Lord" is the shell which we occupy. For while God wills that no soul shall perish, he will not force humankind to seek him.

Meditation Tips from Edgar Cayce
   •  Meditation is the attuning of the mental and physical body to your spiritual source.
  •  Meditation builds a protective barrier around yourself against harmful forces.
  •  Meditation will help you manifest the fruits of the Holy Spirit and the white light of the Christ.
  •  Meditation allows you to obtain information on any subject and the answer will come from within.
  •  Meditation is the way to at-one-ment with God.
  •  Constant communication with God through meditation will result in spiritual guidance.
  •  During meditation, you can increase the spiritual forces taking place within your inner self.
  •  This is necessary to help you attune and become one with the Creative Force - just as in the pitch of a song of praise.
  •  Raise these spiritual forces in yourself and you will enter the presence of your Maker.
  •  No sacrifice is necessary except your desire to be one with God.
  •  You will know within yourself when you are in an at-one-ment with God.
  •  Read about the promises of Jesus in the book of John, chapters 14-17, to learn about the spirit of light within you to help unlock your inner self.
  •  Set definite time periods to listen to the voice of your Maker. Meditate either at 11:00 am to noon in the day or 11:00 pm to midnight in the evening. The best time is 2:00 am to 3:00 am in the morning. (For at least 30 minutes)
  •  Meditate facing east (for polarity with the Earth) and in the same place each day.
  •  For some people, the song of the spheres is necessary for their comfort in meditation and to rest the senses.
  •  Sit or lie in an easy position, without any binding garments around your body.
  •  Sit as in readiness. Crucify desires within yourself. Turn yourself inward.
  •  Quiet yourself mentally. Cleanse the inner room of your mind. No unkind thoughts are allowed.
  •  Shut out all thoughts pertaining to activities or attributes of carnal forces.
  •  The hands should always cross the solar plexus, the balancing between the forces of the body, when meditating or seeking to open yourself to the unseen sources.
  •  Never open yourself without surrounding yourself with the Christ Consciousness by thought, by word of mouth, by impressing it upon yourself - also for protection.
  •  Certain types of breathing are suggested, that there may be an even balance in the respiratory system, that the circulation becomes normal in its flow through the body.
  •  With low music or incantations, let yourself go deeper, to the seeing, feeling, experiencing the creative forces of love and enter into the Holy of Holies.
  •  Then listen to the music of your inner spiritual centers responding.
  •  Enter in the closet of your inner self and pour out your self so that you may be filled with the Spirit of God.
  •  Find what is the impelling desire (i.e., your ideal) in your inner self - council with your soul.
  •  Make your will to be one with the whole.
  •  In your temple, let the voice, the feeling, the spirit of your purpose be free in its direction to yourself.
  •  Meditate on the fruits of the Spirit in the inner secrets of the consciousness and the cells in the body will become aware of the awakening of the life in their activity.
  •  Only in patience can you become aware of your soul's activity.
  •  Attune yourself almost in the same manner as you would tune a violin for harmony.
  •  Seek God's face and God's ways. When you are fully attuned, let your intonations, breathing, and posture be rather an outgrowth of your attunement.
  •  As the body attunes itself, it may be a channel where there may be instant healing with the laying on of hands.
  •  Voices can be heard when attuning yourself during meditation.
  •  Visualizing while attuned in meditation can influence others.
  •  Many people meet their spirit guide during their first experience of meditation. Do not be satisfied with a guide other than one from the Throne of Grace itself.
  •  After raising your consciousness, God meets you in your own temple (the Holy of Holies, the third eye).
  •  No one can know attunement who has not developed their inner self.
  •  If we fail to apply what is given us in meditation, the body will act!

"For life and death are one, and only those who will consider the experience as one may come to understand or comprehend what peace indeed means." - Edgar Cayce

Our Inner Experiences....Q&A

Do we consciously remember all of our inner experiences?
In the case of an ordinary seeker, when he has an inner experience, he may not consciously retain it, although the essence remains in his inner life. Even if it is a high experience, after four years or so he may totally forget it, because the ignorance in his life swallows it. He may say, "How can I have had such an experience? If I did have such an experience, how is it that afterwards I did so many wrong things? How is it that I did not meditate and pray? That means it was not such a significant experience." So his doubt devours the experience and eventually he forgets it. But in the case of a realised person, he knows that whatever he saw or felt was absolutely true. Also, he can remember the inner experiences that he had even from previous incarnations, because of his inner vision. But an ordinary seeker, even if he has had only two major experiences in his life, may not remember them at all.

18 Planes of Existence

Blogger Ref http://www.p2pfoundation.net/Multi-Dimensional_Science

18.1 Primordial planes

The Ari z”l, Isaac Luria, was the first to describe the cosmological structure above the world of Atzulut, the place of the sefirot. I described a journey that took me to the place of G-d before time and space in a previous vision.[1815] That vision brought me to the limit of what is knowable about G-d and then into the Nothingness beyond, Ayn Sof. This vision focuses on the experience of the 4 Expansions of the Name of G-d in the 5th universe residing above the apex of the Yod, what is known as Adam Kadmon.

18.1.1 Adam Kadmon

I used the following finger response techniques for obtaining answers from the subconscious. Answers with movements of the right hand are for the good (tov), those with the left hand are not so (ra). The lifting of the index finger means yes, the pinkie means no, and the fingers in between are degrees between yes and no.[1816]

Meditation 18-1: Into Daat and Up Through Havayah
17th of Tamuz 5754 – Morning
I ascended to Malchuts and then to Yesod[1817] with the help of angels lifting me into the light. From Yesod I went to the Garden of Eden where I saw the Lubavitcher Rebbe shlita[1818] standing outside the gates. I asked him the secret to getting married and he said, “Emunah, that one must believe with all one’s will for it to happen.” I asked if he were Moshiach and he answered again with Emunah, that he has done all he could, it is up to us to believe with all our mind for Moshiach to be.

I wanted to ascend higher to see the Tzaddik Emes, Rebenu z”l. I passed through Tiferets and was stuck at the Gates of Daat[1819] that I did not know how to open. I did not know the Name of Hashem associated with this sefirah.[1820] Eventually I saw Binah as a mother and Hochmah as a father embrace and the gates were opened and Binah lifted me up and showed her husband what she had found. I said, “I need to speak to the Tzaddik Emes and you should help me.” The father took me and passed me into the base of Keter. The entry to Keter opened inward like a hole punched upward through paper, like a new gate made for each who enters. I said, “I will to ascend to the level to see the Tzaddik Emes.” I was lifted through the blackness into the worlds above. I entered the level of MaH – 45 and the expansion of the Havayah was before me and then BN – 52, and then SaG – 63, and finally AV – 72 where I saw Rebenu z”l standing.

jkm066.png

He was so happy. He said, “I am as proud of you as one of my finest students for though you live in the recesses of the world, you have learned so much of my teachings and have studied with my teachers.”[1821] It is impossible to describe the joy he felt and I felt to reach him. I asked Rabbenu z”l to help me with a question and he put his hands upon my head to know the situation. I asked him what he is doing at this level and he said, “you should continue to learn my teachings and you will understand, but for now it is beyond you.”[1822] All of a sudden, I felt a vacuum pulling me down and I descended through the Tree in rapid progression through all of the sefirot and upper worlds.
Meditation 18-2: Adam Kadmon
May 4th, 2001

Regressed myself back to the point of conception and witnessed a spark of light like a shooting star back to its place in the heavens waiting to be born. As I followed the white star back into the night sky, I found its stationary location in the right wrist of Adam Kadmon. Like the rest of the sparks, it was motionless waiting to be reborn. I felt the incredible longing in the spark for the chance at life again, for the chance to improve its station. How long it waited to be born. Such a longing, the other sparks felt the same. All were waiting for suitable parents to provide a chance in life.[1823]

18.1.2 Expansion of the name Hashem

19th of Tamuz 5754

To understand the secret of entering Daat and Rabenu z”l’s role at the level of AV. From the Ari z”l:
YVD HY VYV HY יוד הי ויו הי

The Tetragrammaton expanded with Yods, adding up to 72 (Ab) motivates the union of Hochmah – Wisdom (Father) and Binah – Understanding (Mother), through the Neshamah of the Neshamah (i.e. Chaya) of the saint. It is associated with Hochmah – Wisdom.[1824]

The saint in this case is Rabbi Nachman of Breslov, who can make it possible to enter Daat through his Chaya bringing Hochmah and Binah together for one to enter there. He is at the level of AV for it is Mekor Hochmah, the source of wisdom, and also part of the name of his new settlement in Israel, Nachal Novea Mekor Hochmah where his efforts on high in the spiritual realm parallel the physical construction in our world. The name of the settlement translates to “The Source of Wisdom is a Flowing Brook.”
The words of a man's mouth are as deep waters,
and the wellspring of wisdom as a flowing brook.
(Proverbs 18:4)

Rabbi Nachman teaches, ‘Spring Bubbling (from a mountain side) is a Source of Wisdom’ – Nachal Novea Mekor Chokhmah – נחל נובע מקור חכמה where the initial letters rearranged spell Nachman – נחמן.[1825] Because the letters must be rearranged the verse holds a secret – סוד. “I am a river which makes tahor all that is tamei.”[1826] The spirit of rebenuzal is a mikvah! “I am a beautiful wondrous tree, with wonderful branches, and below I reach into the ground” (Shevachey Haran – שבחי הר"ן 4b #5, #245) spoken on Chanukah December 25th, purifying the tree and cleansing the Temple during Chanukah! (“Until the Mashiach,” p.91 ... which is also the gematria of Elon - 91 - the distinguished tree)[1827] To see oneself as a tree is a very elevating image for character improvement. “Created in the image of G-d” is the 2nd reference to the Tzaddik Emet while the first is the “Ruach over the waters.” The Tree of Life[1828] containing the sefirot presents the qualities of G-d, reflected down into creation. This wondrous tree is also the Tree of Life that is the image of G-d that is Adam Kadmon. The published versions of the Shaarei Orah have as their cover picture, a kabbalist holding onto the Tree of Life.[1829] For some the Tree of Life is Atzulut, the sefirot and her pathways, while for others she is the Torah, the Tzaddik, or the Messiah.

18.2 Astral and Ethereal Planes

The Astral plane is a place outside of all places and yet connecting all. When in the Astral plane, one is invisible to all beings in other planes and yet able to observe all. The Astral body is a glowing white light and connects to its physical source by a line of light. It is also possible to teleport the physical body to the location of the Astral body in the non-physical planes. In this way one can interact with beings on other planes. The advantage of Astral travel is that it is possible to bypass gate keepers to reach spiritual destinations since one can only be seen by other beings on the Astral plane. The disadvantage to Astral travel is that it is difficult and one must achieve a high degree of purification and shed the physical body to enter this plane.
Text 18-1: Zohar on Ethereal and Astral Planes
For every letter that was transmitted to Moses, used to ascend as a crown upon the heads of the holy celestial Hayyoth, who with them flitted through the ether which is under the refined and unknowable supernal ether.[1830] There were large letters and small letters; the large letters came from the most high and hidden Temple (hekhal) and the smaller letters from another lower Temple; and both kinds were transmitted to Moses on Sinai, along with their occult combinations.[1831]

The Ethereal plane is an inner plane that is experienced while dreaming at night. The Ethereal plane connects all physical places in the Universe and enables the subconscious to explore their locations. One can enter the Ethereal plane from the Astral plane but not vice-versa.
R. Eleazar began here with the verse, “Ask thee a sign [Tr. note: The Hebrew word is oth, which in Talmudic Hebrew commonly means “letter”] of the Lord thy God, ask it either in the depth or in the height above” (Isa. VII, 11). He said: ‘We have compared the former with the latter generations, and found that the former were conversant with a higher wisdom by which they knew how to combine the letters that were given to Moses on Mount Sinai, and even the sinners of Israel knew a deep wisdom contained in the letters and the difference between higher and lower letters, and how to do things with them in this world. For every letter that was transmitted to Moses used to ascend as a crown upon the heads of the holy celestial Chayot, who with them flitted through the ether which is under the refined and unknowable supernal ether. There were large letters and small letters; the large letters came from the most high and hidden Temple (hekhal) and the smaller letters from another lower Temple; and both kinds were transmitted to Moses on Sinai, along with their occult combinations.. [Tr. note: The rest of this passage up to 3b [“And he called...”] deals mainly with the occult powers of various letters. The whole is omitted from the editiones majores of Mantua, Cremona, and Lublin.][Note:The last fifteen lines of the Hebrew text do not appear in the translation as explained in the previous translator's note]

Meditation 18-3: Astral Travel
Astral Travel – May 19, 1997 – 27th Day of Omer – 8 PM
Today is influenced by Yesod in Netzah which brings righteous foundation to eternal visions. I visited Berkeley and the Hochmat HaLev meditation center for their weekly meditation. I took the BART up to Berkeley from Fremont and read a little of Crowley’s book on Magic. I had been trying to decipher the mystery of the Astral plane. I was late and jettisoned myself into the silent meditation.
I saw forms of the archangels descend and they pushed me higher from Malchuts to Yesod. The angels passed me to other angels in a chain fashion each pushing me higher. Each complained about my state of impurity and quickly pushed me to the next angel. Eventually something had to be done about the impure state and I beheld a boiling pool of water and sulfuric acid. There was a small sense of fear and then I was tossed into the pool. I sank into the waters and felt myself suffocating. As I sank, I noticed an angelic mermaid form near the bottom of the pool and she spoke to me, “You are safe here.” I began to breath and I noticed that the bottom of the pool was pure acid. The color was a blue-green. Quickly, the acid burned away my clothes. I asked the angel where I was and I was informed that I was in the Lower Plane of Water between the sefirot of Netzah and Hod. There are different types of liquids in the lower planes and this was a place of acid. I asked who she was and she said that her name would be the Hebrew word for acid with the suffix of an angel.[1832] I asked if she was an angel. She said that most beings are messengers of Hashem but that her role was more of an acid elemental. I noticed my skin was burning and pealing away and I beheld a pure white form of light emerging from the shell.

She told me that this was my Astral body and that I would be able to enter the Astral plane with it, while she watched over the remains of my physical form. I traveled quickly out of the pool and noticed a new perspective on the Sefirotic Tree. I was outside of the tree now looking in while connected with a line of white light to my body in the Lower Plane of Water. I noticed that I could look into any world yet I could not be a part of any of them. I glanced into Tiferet and descended into the world. I saw Jacob there in discussion with other religious sages. None of them noticed me because I was not really in that world. I moved out of the sphere and then gazed into Hesed and saw Abraham and Sarah there performing eternal chores associated with their meeting tent and they too could not see me. I popped out and then gazed into Binah and beheld the great angelic mother transmitting light energy and above her chains of other angels in an eternal dance. Though I wanted to dance with the angels, they could not see me and I understood the limitations of the Astral plane.

I asked about the Ethereal plane and found that I could enter it invisibly with the Astral body. I saw many dream souls within the beatific scenes of the ethereal world. Finally, I returned to Binah and asked what it would take to be seen so that I could dance with the angels. I understood that I could merge back with the physical body while within the sphere of Binah. I drew my body up from the Plane of Water and wrapped my body around my Astral form. Immediately I became physical in the World of Binah and the angels saw me and descended. I began to dance with them in great joy. I joined with their ascent to the world of Keter and we entered this world carrying the prayers of those singing into the realm of Will. I began to fall through a center column of the angels, each one closing its wings around me in a salute of departure. I unwrapped back into the astral body and the angels departed.
Nevertheless, all alone, I heard the Voice of G-d,
and I knew before G-d we are never invisible.

Meditation 18-4: Space Travel
April 25, 2000

I ascended into Malchuts with the name Adonai. This was Malchuts of Asiyah, a round cave with an opening at the top into Yesod. With further ascent, I encountered Eloah the source of creation. “I was here before and I will be here after. All that is I created.” I asked about His relation to El Shaddai? “She is my younger sister. She is within creation nurturing and helping to grow.” And what of El Chai? “He is the little brother, younger than El Shaddai. He causes the motion and springiness of life.” And what do you know of Eheyeh asher Eheyeh. “He is before me and will be after me before and beyond the Creator.” And of YHVH? “He is the viaduct connecting all of the higher spiritual places to creation. We are all connected to the root of Names, Yuhoah.” And El? “El is the prefix of my name and is the kindness that bestowed creation.” And of Elohim? “This is the din balancing kindness.” And of Yah. “Ah, Yah is in the crown and is the source of the higher energies sustaining the energies below.”[1833]

I asked to be shown a black hole that I may understand its role. I was shown an ocean of plasma before the creation of our world. I asked what is this? “Before your Universe existed, Hashem made previous universes. These are the remnants of the previous one. As the plasma cooled, gravity pulled particles together. Ultimately all was pulled into the great central light of the Universe. This is like the light of YHVH in Tiferets. This great star went super nova spewing elements throughout the Universe.

I entered the black hole. According to general relativity, gravity slows down time. Hence within a singularity time slows, maybe even stops. Light doesn’t emanate from a black hole due to gravity. This is like the place of Keter. There is no surface. One can fall into the singularity and be one with G-d.

One can communicate with each individual name of G-d. In this manner one can explore the meaning of concepts within the subjective perspective of differing attributes.

Meditation 18-5: Flying into the Past / Remaking the Present
October 26, 2002

From a spiritual dream on Shabbat afternoon. During the dream, I was revealed to the divine name Wah – וה. By saying this Name of G-d, one can elevate oneself to flying in a lucid dream or staying in flight. In addition to flying across space, Wah permits one to fly across time and visit the past and return to the future. Encountering the past with Wah changes the present so that one will find that when one returns to the date that one left, the place will look different in some small way and be different in a larger way. In my dream I started from Bimah, the raised place in a Jewish sanctuary, and I returned to the same place, though its appearance had changed and also reality.

How does Wah – וה transform reality? Quite simply, this name associates with Binah, mistress of the future. Yah – יה associates with Hochmah, master of the past. One recites Wah, over and over, to ascend in flight. Even without dreaming Wah is effective. Jacob dreamed of the angels ascending to heaven and returning.

One should try to become familiar or known to others in places of worship. One should teach others spiritual ways, though one would find that it is difficult to teach others to travel the Tree of Life, to travel in time.

This week was Shabbas Vayera – ‘And G-d appeared’ to Abraham on the plains of
Mamre – אלני ממרא. Three men appear to Abraham and Abraham offers them hospitality. From here we learn that one doesn’t ask questions when a guest arrives, that it does not matter if they are Jewish or not, and that one quickly prepares something for them to drink and eat. As the guests are present, G-d speaks to Abraham and tells him that He will destroy S’dom. G-d does not speak through one of the angels on this subject. Nevertheless, Abraham questions G-d on this until they decide that if he finds ten good men, G-d will not destroy the city for the sake of the ten. From here we learn the principle that it is meritorious to pray with a minyan, a group of ten. Interestingly, Abraham does not pray to save his son when G-d commands him to take Isaac for a sacrifice. Why did he not pray for Isaac though he prayed for S’dom. This teaches that before one can pray for a mercy that there must be justice. Because Isaac had done nothing wrong, the command to sacrifice him was not a punishment, hence without justice there is no concept of mercy.[1834] On the other hand, G-d would punish the people of S’dom for their sins, hence Abraham could pray for mercy. From here we also learn that since G-d created the universe with the name Elohim, he created it with justice; in so doing, He necessitated the principle of mercy in the world.[1835]

One should be a good example to others. One should develop a ‘center of gravity’. With a ‘center of gravity’ one can travel in other circles and be without personal conflict.[1836] Developing a ‘center of gravity’ requires a commitment to ones principles. It is harder to keep ones principles than to know them.

[1817] In Yesod, I saw the Nickelsburg Rebbe who like all living Tzaddikim, ascend regularly to this sefira. The Tzaddik Joseph symbolizes Yesod, which means foundation. The gematria of Yesod – יסוד is 80. Sod, which means secret, is 70. Yesod is also the eighth sefira representing dedication. The temple was rededicated to Hashem in the 8 days of Hanukkah. Likewise, the tzaddik dedicates his entire life to Hashem. Yesod is the home of the tzaddikim (and the Living G-d) that is to live with El Chai.
[1818] He appeared as his portrait found in the beitim (houses) of Chabad.
[1819] Daat or knowledge is the quasi sefira, which is the result of mastery of wisdom, understanding, kindness, and responsibility. It is the gateway to Keter, the crown of G-d, which is the place of G-d’s will.
[1820] A cherub carries a coal and places it in your mouth. In meditation, you are cleansed and your mouth opens. The place of Daat does not associate with a single name of G-d but one must open his mouth with wisdom to enter.
